My advice to new hires is to suck it up and pay for a single occupancy hotel. It is the option with the fewest potential distractions since you don't have to worry about roommates, transportation, or a long commute. It's $2,000 in a $5 million career. The numbers work out favorably.
Some of the guys in my class shared a two-bedroom suite at the Residence Inn. Especially if you share with your sim partner (matched schedules), that sounds like a good option to save a little money. Walkable to the sims, includes breakfast and there's a kitchen.
