Delta Air Lines will
NEVER be released to self-help.
The sooner we realize that the better off we will be.
United and American are also now "too big to release". Probably UPS and FedEx as well.
The Railway Labor Act no longer functions as originally intended. The only reason the NMB is relevant is because ALPA and management still find it useful as a tool to control pilot behavior.
"Can't ask for too much. The NMB will never allow it. We'll get put on ice."
Its a way to lower expectations and take some of the heat off the union and the company.
The National Mediation Board doesn't mediate anything. They work
in concert with management and ALPA to
regulate labor costs in the airline industry.
