Im in a pilot position, but that could change at the drop of a hat, so theres no real job security as a pilot. I have no debt, except my home, and my wife has an excellent job where she makes more than me and Im on her insurance. Im 33 years old and have basically no money tied up in flight training. At this point, a 5k investment toward a career where the earning potential is double (triple assuming employment at a major down the road) and job security as a pilot. I realize there are furlough possibilities and I dont mean that the airlines are stable, I simply mean, as a pilot you probably wont get a call one day to go in and work the ticket counter.
As many have said on here, the regionals are typically a stepping stone, but hell, even as a captain at PSA (or any regional for that matter) I stand to make a heck of a lot more money and have a better QOL than I currently have. From what research I have done, PSA seems to be the best fit for me.
If you are currently employed in a flying position there is no reason to take any kind of RJ course. The training dept will prepare you.
