Obviously I'm a huge proponent of the 1500hr rule but I'm just saying... at UND we're already stretched on instructors and that's with tons of people sticking around to 1000. If people were in and out of here any faster there would be literally nobody left to instruct or at least the capacity of students would go way down. That's not just bad for producing more American pilots but that would also put lots of strain on foreign carriers who train here as well.
Yes, this has been my point as well; if we go back to the old rule of 250 hours or there about, nobody will flight instruct, thus creating another constriction on the pilot supply. I'm sure management would jump all over the two months of reprieve they'd get though.

I'm starting class soon to build my 121 experience in the hopes that by 2018 the regionals are basically dying/dead. Good riddance imho.
Agree with you again...I love listening to management types whine before congress how unfair the situation is...as if they didn't see this coming-and weren't warned very, very vociferously for *decades* leading up.

2 weeks+ for finishing negotiations (haven't even touched the "big 3" articles yet)
2-3 weeks for a vote
1 month to attract/interview anyone who might take the bait
2-3 months to train, including IOE

You're looking at 4-5 months before we even get the bodies we need in the seats flying the airplanes. And that's just for current staffing. How about when our 9 new DL175s start showing up this Fall? Or our 75 UA175s?...Half my flights cancel 2-3 days before hand. What's the point in even holding a line...Everyone saying this place is headed for an iceberg? It already hit it. It's a sinking ship. Jump on a lifeboat while you still can people. Mine's leaving next week.
Where ya going? A major, LCC, regional, or maybe corporate/fractional? Good luck all RAHers.
