Not all of those furloughs are coming back. Some of them are captains at Delta, United, Fedex, Southwest, etc.
SOME of the work rules are worse than United and Delta but not all. I don't have the contract comparison handy but a few things that stood out as better at AA are pay during training, paid hotel during training, the 401k contribution is higher than Delta, and there is no airport reserve. The pay rates are the highest but IMAX (union imposed limit of credit hours) and no profit sharing dilute the payscale. AA has a good choice of bases and a pilot hired today will advance to the left seat faster than any other legacy. The retirements start sooner and are more numerous than any other legacy.
