Thanks for some facts APC,

I remember flying with those reprehensible scabs early in my career. Without prompting, they'd often share their stories about crossing and coming in off the street, looking for sympathy concerning "how tough it was"... In those days, everyone and anyone was allowed in the terminals. The strikers could stand inside the terminal and peer through the glass, 10 feet from the cockpit of the nosed in plane. The new-hire, off the street scabs, related stories of placing Continental barf bags, which had "Seat Occupied" printed on one side, in the cockpit windows. They'd taunt the strikers. The airline and it's core of scabs relentlessly lobbied strikers to "come back to work, the strike wasn't working". The strikers in turn would call the utility companies and have the electricity and gas shut off at the homes of scabs while they were out flying... One told me that while he was on a trip, his parents received a call that their newly minted airline pilot son had been killed in an accident at the airport... please come down and identify the body. 15 years later I had the chance to fly with the man who made the call. He never had to buy himself dinner, but often picked up the tab for the entire crew.
