If you were hired in 2005 or so from a Regional, I understand that your lack of experience with "The Show" biases your expectations, but you'll eventually find your bearings. When I was a new 4 year Captain back in '99, Rick Dubinsky, our MEC Chairman, came and talked to us at the "new Captain" seminar. He said, "you 4 year Captains had better put that stripe on with superglue 'cause that's the only way you're going to keep it." He was right, and I would say the same thing to the current crop of abnormally premature 4 stripers. Besides, my F/O buddies down in IAH tell me that the junior Captains are horrible to fly with, so maybe a few years back in the right seat will give them better perspective.
