Dude, DALPA gives out more updates on negotiations than I can deal with. I delete them because they clog my inbox. I think we are on the 13th update since March?
The comm from the MEC is bound by the rules of your Union, nay nay OUR Union. They can't discuss negotiation specifics, by the rules. if you want the rules to change, and thereby undermine negotiating leverage in the room, by all means suggest to your reps you want by laws changed so the kimono is open and/or dropped. But any pro negotiator (who is in the room, every single session) would tell you you are insane for even thinking that's a good idea.
Eh, the updates, however frequent, are quite vague... and yes that primarily has to do with the rules of the system. I don't disagree with the rules of communication, just trying to interject some logic here.
We will continue dealing with the paranoia until better details come out. I choose not to bite off on them this early on, but a lot of distrust has been fostered over the years hence what you're seeing around here.
I suppose at least this time the paranoia isn't manifesting itself in a counter union drive...
