Its a policy for everyone and its designed to help the operation. While you certainlly want to be abiding by the rules (plus a little margin if you can…remember the rules talk about realistic availability 24 hours prior too, not just 2 completely oversold for weeks flights…screen shots are your friend) things happen and they don't expect new hires to teleport to base, nor do they expect new hires to move to base. There is nothing wrong with using the commuter policy while on probation, as long as you are obeying the rules of it and are planning a responsibile comute.
