Have you ever worked a job that had you on the road and away from family 2/3rd's of your life? If so and it worked for you, good luck to you, I hope you get the job.

If not, you might be not-so-pleasantly surprised to find that after 6 weeks on the road, "home time" no longer matters, as you have no "home," just a place you drop in on every so often and impose yourself on the people living therein. In time, you may find that you've become largely irrelevant to your former family...somebody else has taught your son to hit a baseball...somebody else has presented your daughter flowers at her first dance recital. If your wife has had a hard day at work and needs to talk to somebody, don't worry...somebody will be there to listen. It just won't be you. Don't be surprised if that person becomes your wife's new "friend...but just a friend" or if she somehow knows more about the status of her new "friend's" failing marriage than you do your own.

Lastly, get to know your kids teachers and coaches well...they'll be a lot more important to your kids intellectual and emotional development than you are.

The point is, "Time is all you have in this life" Don't undervalue it! Know what you're getting into before you make a commitment to something as tenuous as a job with an ACMI carrier.
