Layovers can be fun, but they all include 1-2 hour ride to/from the airport (GRU especially). ATC radios are horrible, starting in the Carribean (volume issues, no answers, echoes, etc). And the ITCZ means several hours of mod turbulence. I always arrived exhausted, slept most of the day, went out for drinks and dinner (only good part), spent most of day 2 resting for the all nighter home. Most of the guys that really liked it seemed to have a "special friend" down there!
