But had you had more flying, more pilots would've moved up in categories, possibly upgraded. Scope costs money.
That's the issue. With this grievance settlement, we've set the legal precedent that scope violations become a permanent reset by paying a little money. Having a voluntary Scope section hurts pilots the most depending on how many more years they have to work with no defensible Scope section. In my opinion, the payout should be based on a sliding scale with the highest payouts going to pilots with the greater number of years remaining.
