Years ago we made numerous complaints about the requirements to get to EWR. The company agreed to quit building rotations out of EWR. This was followed almost immediately by massive complaints from pilots who wanted the EWR trips back. It's kind of like CDO's. I'm sure some ATL pilots would love BHM or CHA or GSP trips too. Some DTW pilots would love CLE trips. Some SEA pilots would love PDX trips.
That doesn't mean we should do it, and it certainly doesn't mean we should just put it all on the entire pilot group in those bases if we did. Line holders, reserves, locals, commuters, are all negatively effected by things like this except the very few that actually live in a position to benefit from it.
EWR is completely unrealistic unless they want it as a separate stand alone base. Transportation is a pittance to continue to tolerate the ridiculousness of that "co-terminal".
