I been home based for 10 months now and have no plans on leaving for the time being. I enjoy where I live and have been able to spend quite a bit of time at home. Bidding from month to month as a mid seniority pilot can get you 10 day blocks of time off... but the downside is you are really hustling when you do work. 6 on/1 off/6 on is what I bid to maximize my days off in big blocks. For some of the folks this base is their home (for a variety of reasons) but for the majority it allows people to sample multiple bases before committing to moving into a permanent base.
