This was sent to me: I did NOT support this TA, voted NO on the deal as a rep, and will do so as a line pilot. It was made very clear by the MEC Chairman and negotiators they wanted the MEC to give a thumbs up on this TA, so the pilots get to see it and vote on it. What does this mean? they are merely looking to get a 50+1 vote from the pilot group, which this TA does not deserve. I disagreed and believed the the TA should have been stopped with the MEC as that is our job to prevent anything bad from going to pilots. Now its yours to ponder.
With an 11-8 vote the MEC approved to release the TA to the membership, the 8 that voted no, felt that the TA DID NOT meet the direction of the pilots and was unacceptable. This TA should have passed on its own merits, with the MEC and the pilots without a big sales job, however, this TA will need a sales job of a large magnitude probably in order of Barnum & Bailey circus main tent, Las Vegas show girls, cheerleaders, the used car salesman will be out in force. Its all about PAY, PAY, PAY.
There are some good things but this deal falls short of what the pilots have directed. Who would have ever thought this is what we would end up with in the best negotiating environment we have ever seen, too many concessions, Instructor issues, using PS to fund our raise, unacceptable, and valued less than contract 2012.
This is my perspective and did not support the TA, you should let the MEC CH. and Negotiators know your feelings :
