That money was supposed to be a bridge to help those that retired at 60 to pay for their health insurance until they reached 65 and Medicare started.

It was great, in theory, until ALPA caved on age 65 and most of them stayed the extra 5 years, screwing the junior guys. I asked a union official why it was not prorated or eliminated altogether for those that didn't retire at age 60. He said "because it wasn't in the contract that way". I told him to be fair to the junior guys, they should prorate it. He said that would take an LOA, and he didn't think the union would vote to take money away from the lucky few.

The 25K was given to anyone older than 53 on date of signing.

It was not in the "bridge" contract.

I am now over 53, if it is not in this contract, I will be voting no.

Call me a single issue voter if you will, but if I don't get the 25K the others got, I will have been screwed twice. Once by age 65, and once by my own union.

I won't vote to screw myself.

No 25K, I will vote no.

It's that simple.
