Why so serious?
Because its insulting to the professional crew members YOU can't do your job without. And its classless. Which says volumes of the little boys who think its funny. That's why.

He knows nothing of my 1.5 hr. drive to work, versus the 3.5-4 hour drive it would be to New York (I know that's still pretty good). He knows nothing of my outside work activities, or my child with a life threatening illness and the importance of getting time at home with her.
All that to say the decision is entirely based on your own situation and priorities. Were I a commuter the decision would be much easier but things like the value of driving to work versus commuting are very difficult to quantify. Of course its all hypothetical if you don't apply and they don't call.
Well said, Sir. Granted, the Major/Legacy airlines are the pinnacle of the pyramid as far as pay goes, but there's a whole wide, wonderful world of aviation out there.
A lot of people aren't chasing the almighty buck. Being home based, maxxing out time with family, or just flying something other than the winged bus and dealing with the bus terminal every day can be more important.
But the buck chasers have to justify missing birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases and Thanksgivings somehow.
