As Seinfeld said ASAP!! Apply to both FedEx and UPS. I know of people who took leave to come interview and after they were hired, they were getting terminal leave through out new hire training. (which would definitely help at $2000 a month). If the company wants you, they will work with you, ie slide your new hire class date.

The timeline can vary drastically depending on your quals, who your recs are and how hard they're pushing for you, and a little bit of luck. It can be a couple weeks to over a year.
