Not one crew member was getting paid at the time. If they want us to be responsible for Pax, then pay us. How can you be held responsible when you weren't on the clock? The only people who should be held responsible are the gate agents and ramp.
Wow. The ultimate decision whether or not to deplane rests with the PIC. Being "off the clock" has nothing to do with the passengers safety. I sure hope you're not a captain yet, and get a few more years in the industry before being tasked with the responsibly that goes along with it. The quality of the typical PSA pilot never ceases to amaze me. Very sad.
