If you ever had to really sit hot or ready reserve you wouldn't even compare the two. My WHOLE month line was all hot at a previous regional. 5 days a week for 8 hour shifts in uniform which equates to 152 hours of sitting at the airport per month if you don't get called for flying. All month every month until you can hold something better. Your mileage may vary but I rarely had sits longer than 3 hours at rah after 117 (less than 5). Also, QOL can vary quite a bit based on your domicile, cert and plane, which is why you'll have people post with different experiences.
I've been here a little while and have sat hot reserve for months at a stretch. I'll agree that it felt like the biggest waste of my life I'd ever experienced. I'd rarely get called to fly and did mostly repos and maintenance runs. This was back when we had mostly airplanes with those noisy propeller thingies. 😃
