WITH the IP desig, the instrument portion is apparently thrown in there as a package deal.
You don't need to me an NE, NI, or ANI. Just an instructor. Only had to produce my test scores and instructor pilot designation letter at the FSDO. My IP designation letter said I was qualified to give IX's. That sufficed for CFI-I and MEI.
