To answer another point, I worked at Mountain Air Cargo for years. 121 flying and upgrades were not necessarily by seniority.
Frankly, I'm far more interested in how one can maximize time off. Maximize in the sense of stringing days off. Maybe the old hands on the board can explain how to try to do that.
I'm giving thought to coming to PDT but not for the reasons a guy in his 20's and early 30's would.

Hard lines average 12-13 days off a month right now. They do try to build a variety of lines, especially in the larger bases like ROA and MDT so it may be possible to get a decent stretch off a few months after completing SOE. The bases are relatively small though so the open flying is hard to swap with because there's so little to choose from. Being the junior guy on the totem pole you would be the last to get your request. If you really need to have those long stretches off 121 is probably not for you, I'd look into some corporate operators 91k that do 7onoff schedules.
