Whomever has the pilots will be the ones to execute their options. Currently RAH is not in any position to execute the 50 more AA RJ options, and aren't even flying all 47 of the ones they have. No staffing.
Just so I understand what JDflyer is saying and my understanding of the system:

Several airlines have options for Large RJs to do AA regional flying: PSA (CRJ 900s, AA owns), Compass (175s from the first 20, AA owns), RAH (175s left over from the 2012 agreement they own), and Envoy (90 options). As it stands, the OPTIONS do not count to anything regarding scope. Trans States could get 200 options for 175s but as long as they remain options, they just exist in theory.

Once a company wishes to exercise the options, then scope has to be considered. Without any of the CRJ700s being reconfigured, only a handful of large RJs may be placed into service at AA (10-20? Dont know the exact numbers). These options may be exercised by Compass, Republic, PSA or Envoy to the extent allowed by scope.

Side note: All but one of those carriers options are for Embraer aircraft while the other is for Bombardier. I think bombardier is getting desperate to try to sell more slots for their large RJs and since the bean counters get their way, I wonder who will get more airplanes.

Cujo says pilots are the new currency and who is the only one who is hiring gang-busters (Even if they are feeling some growing pains). PSA just needs to play catch up, not turn down.
