It and the original resolution at the beginning of this thread will be both forwarded to the MEC.

SUBJECT: UPA 8-C-6 GRANDFATHER RIGHTS

SOURCE AND DATE SUBMITTED:

LEC 171 July 8, 2015

WHEREAS, the company has commenced another round of "base rebalancing" to align base staffing levels with the planned levels of flying, and

WHEREAS, the company's historical manpower planning has been poor resulting in a continual change of plans which negatively impacts the quality of life of United pilots,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the members of Council 171 direct the officers of Council 171 to use all available resources to obtain a modification to UPA Section 8-C-6 that would extend "grandfather rights" from 120 days to 12 months for any pilot displaced from their position, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, these "grandfather rights" will only apply to flying returned to the displaced category. Vacancies resulting from attrition, including retirements, LTD, pilots bidding out of the category, etc., will not invoke these protections and will be filled using normal UPA Section 8-C-5 vacancy procedures. If there are vacancies in an affected category during the 12 month time period, the SSC will determine if those vacancies are a result of attrition or an actual return of flying to the category.

This is awesome. When I get bumped out of my recently acquired DEN 737 CAP, I'll be sure to bid IAH 737 CAP. That way, when I get bumped out of IAH, I'll have grandfather rights to BOTH. yippee.
This resolution is going nowhere...hey Ben....get in line baby...the seniority line.
