This candy ass was a dock worker in Northfield, Ohio during my college years. I was a member of Teamsters Local 407, Jackie Presser was our local President. Yeah, that Jackie Presser. I was 20 years old when we went on strike for 2 weeks in 1978. We secured pay increases from $7.81 an hour to $13.56 an hour with time and a half on Saturday, double on Sunday, and triple on holidays. How's that for a union? Full medical and retirement too. That was a picket line you did not cross, unless you wanted cement shoes. Some of the older heads were wanting to go shoot the independent truckers from highway overpasses. Luckily the cooler heads prevailed.
