Another example of how the ability to use your borderline useless October/February vacation days as an APD would be nice?

I'm sure there will be gnashing of teeth - there is always gnashing of teeth. But inferring that a pay raise will help quality of life is simplistic.
I have made adjustments to our family's lifestyle and budget to live on about 75 hrs of work a month on current pay, and to be able to drop hrs/month every year after today. The extra is gravy - nice gravy to be sure - and I'll pick up a GS every other month or so if nothing else is going on. Surely, 8% more pa would be even nicer. But not worth the QOL hits the failed TA would have given me.
Those adjustments have also allowed us to capitalize on non-peak vacation time. The APD vacation would be a nice thing for a few, "meh" for some others, and useless to many.
The TA was a miss, when we should have gotten a shack.
