That's a VERY slippery slope. Were YOU hired by American Airlines or "acquired" by American Airlines (be it flow-thru or merger/acquisition with your airline) ?

It's easy for pilots to label and classify other pilots in what they assume or hope is a lower recognition thus elevating themselves as somehow more worthy, but in reality, we're all equal in that respect.
