For me, it depends what type of plane it is and where jumpseat is located. I will not take jumpseat that is directly facing passengers. It makes me uncomfortable to sit face to face with a stranger for hours. The point is it should be my choice to give up my cockpit jumpseat if I have it reserved. There should be 0 repercussions and I shouldn't be made out to be a bad guy if I don't want to sit in the flight attendant jumpseat. Most guys that get ****ed getting left behind aren't even allowed to sit in a flight attendant jumpseat on their own airline so they are asking for a favor that they can't reciprocate.

I was just left behind on Southwest because it was weight restricted on a 600 mile flight. Go figure. Not even sure how that's possible on a 737. No hard feelings.
Perhaps it's time to change that policy.... I can assure you I am no less qualified to open the door of a B-757 in an emergency than the drunken silver medallion that is mad he didn't get first class and could only get the exit row window. And yes my company has the same stupid policy that only FA's or company pilots (Not even FAA cabin inspectors are allowed on the spare FA seat) and it's unreal what it took to even allow that.
