IE7 works a bit differently... If you have vista (not sure if it works for XP), follow these instructions and omit any one that you feel you still need (turning some svcs off)....
Disable Phishing Filter
Tools -> Phishing Filter: Set to OFF
RSS Feeds
Tools -> Internet Options -> Content -> Feeds -> Settings: UNCHECK all boxes
Disable ClearType
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced: Scroll to find "Always use ClearType for HTML", DECHECK
Disable SSVHelper Class Line
Tools -> Manage Add Ons -> Enable or Disable Add Ons: SELECT SSVHelper Class line, click DISABLE

You can also edit registry key values to speed up IE6/7. Use caution, messing up registry keys can cause system errors on your computer or even prevent it from starting. Go here for instructions:
