"Executive referral" puts people on fast track at most corporations. In this case it probably helped Victoria and her husband and I venture to say every company has a share of those who were helped by top executives.
Many of us here had some serious buddy help in getting the interview. May not work well now, but for much of FedEx's history, that was the way to get the interview. Can't really fault anyone who still gets an advantage.
