Considering the average participation rate within ALPA is about 5% (outside of contractual ratifications) how would a poll help here? Also ALPA is here to make us all safer, not to placate and back us in a corner with the EAA and AOPA.

ALPA knows what they are doing here. Look at the initial proposal a few years ago the FAA wanted with the sleep apnea policy. Look what was eventually put in place. The new policy isn't in place because of the EAA and AOPA...
The answer to your first four questions is: Yes.

Maybe things like this (ALPA speaking out on something that really has nothing to do with the AIR LINE PILOTS Association) is one reason why there is a 5% participation rate...
