I have been here longer then 10 years actually. I have tried to improve the industry after finding out what it was about. I don't like seeing FO's getting paid low wages. Yet I keep getting badgered for trying to raise the bar, raise pay. I just don't understand it. At least you admit you were being selfish and sold out. My point to you and the rest is if we all unionized for real and do what we need to do by voting no, together, we might actually change things. Look at Republic today. If they go under, some will retire, making it worse, some will go to other regionals that take over some of the feed, and some will go back to the majors, giving us much better paying jobs like it should be. It would also send a message to every other regional airline that they screwed up for negotiating 1.5 percent margins. The majors will also realize this and might give a little more money back to some regionals to increase pay, just to keep it going a little while longer. I just wanted you guys to realize I am looking out for you guys, it just doesn't look like it. It looks like to you, I have nothing to lose and am selling out your jobs by voting no. Not saying I will until I see the contract, but flaps, at least you admit you sold out. You actually gained some respect from me. I just wish you were helping my cause of raising the bar and not helping lower it by selling out. Either way. Peace buddy.
Everyone that goes anywhere does it for selfish reasons whether it's the first (or only) carrier to call you, a quick upgrade, good pay rates, benefits, domiciles, you name it. No one takes a job solely for the purpose of bettering the industry. If a ta comes up that you don't think gives you what you're worth considering the circumstances, then you vote no. It's not a white knight crusade. Nothing personal, but I think the whole "I try to improve the industry" line is tired. If you're not lobbying, or occupying a union position, then you're just voting yes/no based on whether or not you think a TA is good enough for your own interests. Obviously everyone wants to see the bar raised, but don't pretend you're doing it for anyone else.
