You wanting RJs flown at mainline will end with putting thousands of existing regional pilots on the street as they are not mainline caliber. They may be good enough to fly and RJ at a regional, but not good enough to fly the same RJ at mainline. Those seats are reserved for the traditional mainline candidate..... military pilots and properly educated and experienced civilians, not your typical zero to hero regional "dude".
I have no problem with us being hired by mainline and held to the same standards. In fact, that's the point...there never should have been any difference. But that cat was let out of the bag long ago, and not by most of us that joined the industry in the past 10 years. But we do have the ability to change that.
Yes, this means alot of us would be on the street...for awhile. The demand is still there, and either mainline or the LCCs would eventually grow to pick up the slack. Regional "dudes" are for the most part quite experienced and well-rounded these days...that's why we're filling up mainline new-hire classes.
