I'm not sure why you disagree with ALPA. I too, grew up in GA and know full well what a 3rd class physical looks like. It's not that tough to get one and if you are disqualified for the 3rd class, maybe you should not be flying powered GA Aircraft around in crowded airspace - glider pilots do not need a medical.
