All you did is create a downward pressure on Envoy and Piedmont. When we had to vote on our concessionary contract, we were threatened that we will shut down if we vote no, same with RAH pilots. Yet, here we are still in business. But keep believing in what makes you feel good about yourself! You got bullied by your own managment and that's a fact!
Management came to the pilot group 3 seperate times. The first two times, when our pilot group voted no, the proposed flying went elsewhere. The third time, the pilot group was threatened with further reduced flying and possible shutdown. Or, ratify an agreement that in all honesty was hardly concessionary and offered growth to a small airline that could of been easily and quickly put out of business. Look at Envoy. Huge pilot group, lots of airplanes. Not so easy to just shut down. But you can bet Doug called their bluff. So what makes you so sure that PSA wouldn't have been sent the way of the buffalo by Doug Parker and AAG? And further more, why should our pilot group have been sacrificed in the interests of "the better good for the industry"? And why did ALPA, the union that represents both of our pilot groups stand by and allow AAG to essentially take advantage of two ALPA regional air carriers? Answer: because this sector of the industry is broken. No one is looking out for anyone else and ALPA doesn't represent our best interests. I had disdain for PSA before I chose to come here. Then I talked to friends flying for several different regionals (to include yours). They all told me the same thing. Go somewhere that is an easy commute and offers a reasonable upgrade time. Don't spend the next 5 years of your life on the bottom of a "good regional's" seniority list on reserve. And you know what, they were right. My decision is affirmed more and more every day by the pilots who have come to PSA from every other regional. Is our company and pay amazing? No. Is it awful? No. are there issues here? Of course. But I venture an educated guess that our issues aren't any worse than the other regionals, and in fact may be much better. There are plenty of people to be mad at, but PSA quite honestly isn't one of them. Not sure why every other airline's thread has to have something about PSA in it, but if you insist, at least stop with the misinformation.
