Ask for the CRJ if you want Atlanta, because ERJ will be the legacy XJT operations.
Its not all rainbows and unicorns at XJT, or any regional. If you know what to expect going in, you wont be mislead or disappointed.
If you want the job, just go in and do your best. All the airlines need pilots right now. Be open and honest about your history.
I came from flight instructing and had next to zero turbine experience. Training was harder for me that the military guys flying KC-135's and C-17's, but they gave me extra sims when I needed it, and I passed the check ride without issues. The training team is awesome!! They want you to pass and succeed.
Yes, I still have stars in my eyes and have that "New FO smell", but I have always believed a job is what you make it. Will you be on reserve? Yes. Will you upgrade? Eventually (8 Years?). But, the major airlines are hiring FOs, so you may not have to.
I think now is a great time to be in the airlines. You are going to see rumors that say "we will be bought next week", to "we will be closing the doors next week".
Just go do your job, and be happy your flying a jet.
The pay sucks, so be prepared. It sucks everywhere to start.
I love it right now!!!
If you have questions please PM me, and I will answer you honestly.
I'd reply separately, but this person wrote everything that I would have said. Biggest factor, if you want the hope of ATL don't take anything but a CRJ class even if it means holding out for a little while, but right now we are actively hiring into it and will be for as long as anyone can foresee. You may have to be based in DTW or DFW for a little while, but there is a hope of getting back to ATL rather quick. If you pick erj you won't have a hope for getting ATL.
Best wishes!
