I'm sort of at a loss as to why equipment type would matter to a new hire FO. The pay is the same regardless of equipment for an FO. You are hired into a pool here and you would be a fool not to take the first class offered unless you DO live in, or very close to, a Republic or Shuttle base and are relatively sure you can hold it upon hire. Seniority and quality of life are the most important things to consider coming into this field, not the location of the engines on the airplane, especially during times of heavy hiring where waiting a few months can mean 100 senority numbers lower. I am able to drive to work here and I promise you that the Gee Whiz factor of the 170 will quickly fade if you have to make a 2 leg commute (on your own time by the way) to sit reserve in Denver when you live in Louisville. Like I said, unless you live in PIT, DCA, IND, ORD, PHL or DEN take the first class offered. Senority is king! If you choose equipment type over quality of life...no circle of stars for you!

Ps. ADIZ, looks like you live near DCA so Republic may be worth holding out for, but don't overlook Richmond.
