Finished IOE in Anchorage and used alternate travel for a hotel in Anchorage and a flight from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh. I Atlas jumpseated the Anchorage to Hong Kong leg. Next up my awarded line started on the 2nd with R2 in Anchorage but I VX'd the start of the trip to operate Shanghai to Anchorage on the 1st. Alternate travel netted Ho Chi Minh to Shanghai on the 31st and a hotel.
My conclusion is that it's totally possible to commute from Asia as a junior guy. There are some tricks to learn and you may not know whether you're leaving on Monday or Wednesday until Sunday night, but for me that's a feature not a bug.
So was the the Shanghai to Anchorage trip a published open time trip or something that scheduling gave you by calling them?
