Default Jerrycans & potable water

The famous Jerrycan (alternative spellings OK) was actually a 1930s German design, part of their logistics run-up to WW II. Held 5.3 gallons, had handles for one or two-man carrying, and was reverse-engineered for the US Army, under MIL-C-1283.

Made of steel, now replaced by a plastic one.

I remember many of them mis-labelled as 'Portable.' Of course, they were that, also.
