Your experience and other certification outside of your mechanic certificate (A&P) wont' make any difference toward a degree, and your mechanic certificate won't get you a 4 year degree. You can get an associate degree with only a little classwork. Look into Eastern New Mexico University; you may be able to complete an associate in aircraft maintenance technology with only four additional classes.

Once you have your associate, the remaining two years of a degree program must be completed in entirety; your A&P won't get you past the associate.

ENMU has 4 year degrees, including aviation degrees, that you can use to build on the associate.

Costs are very reasonable.
