I think one component to having a good attitude is listening. Nine times out of 10 when you feel the urge to speak, just shut your mouth and listen. I have a tendency to put my foot in my mouth all the time so I tried hard my first year to listen to what people had to say before forming my own opinions.

Another is being humble. You aren't cool. Honestly you probably suck. And you would be lucky if your mom really ever loved you.

If anyone can succeed at projecting those attributes they have a great chance of succeeding at anything.
