10%? DAL hires a pretty high percentage of those interviewed. But even going high, for the hiring of 2014 at DAL that would have been 100-110ish TOTAL? I'd have to look at the number hired again.
Add up the number of pilots that attended OBAP, WAI, and whatever other event DAL attended for years 2013 and 2014.
OBAP and WAI could probably tally 2000. But extracting non-competitive and non "Tier 1" candidates would drop that number naturally. But AGAIN, 10% is a small amount considering how many competitive people are in the "12,000 apps on file".
How did they EVER find good candidates before the job fair (SCAM) ever developed?

Not here to promote the conferences, but you would have to also take out those with an internal rec. The 10% was conference only with No rec. Of the 2000 or so people (sounds high for total of pilot candidates only) at the conferences....that will lower the number in that category to choose from. What Delta was really telling us was that they needed our recs to help them find good candidates to pull from the stack, and that that the only other place they get them is a face to face somewhere like a conference. They're not going to score 10K Apps.
When I applied I was all in. Conferences, interview prep, finding internals, trying to set up a Chief Pilot meet and greet with United (unsuccessfully, but got a Hogan email eventually), and working all avenues I could find. Most are doing that I believe. Scam or not, I figured I'd make up that money later on with a hopeful CJO.
