Joe, you don't need to tell me. I understand what cloth they are cut from all too well. I just feel it's important for others to understand who may not be so enlightened. And it's important for prospective new hires to understand this as well. Eventually, the 'but it's better than my regional' wears off.
And you should care what they are saying. Negotiatiation means reaching a deal with these people. You need to understand their psychology.
