Sounds like some posturing by the company and perhaps the remaining "yes" voters on the MEC. The 190s weren't coming until the 4th quarter 2016, so zero pilots were needed for those airplanes in the near term.
Wonder how long DALPA will slap the pilots's wrists for the no vote?
Training like the 717 introduction would have began late winter due to the rapid intake rate on airframes and the limited sim time available.
