I couldn't agree more. I didn't have time to expand on my post from yesterday.
My first interaction with OBAP was this week. I was very impressed by the convention and the job fair. I spent a few hours in the APDP (Aerospace Professional Development Program )seminars. I made sure to schedule my meet and greets so that I could attend the APDP events. The speakers at these development sessions cared deeply about getting out great content. There were no smoke or mirrors.
My friend and I received two hours of interview preparation from captains at major airlines. The interview prep provided by these OBAP members was outstanding and made this more than a job fair. We spent over an hour with one captain. His advice was valuable and I was able to apply some of the advice to a meet and greet I had the next day with a major.
I was very impressed with the Solo Flight program that OBAP has created. I got to meet a pilot who soloed and got his PPL thanks to OBAP scholarship.
I walked away this week wanting to become more active in this organization.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's a shame that too many folks rely on their emotions to drive their opinions.
