PIC usually sits on the left. Nothing preventing the PIC sitting on the right. When the ATP law kicked in, my airline did "pic types" for FO's from the right seat. I just find it strange that spirit is under the impression that you have to sit in the left seat to get it done.
Who cares how they do it... I don't think we ever had a guy in my class brought this issue up. The instructors said, we need to know the CA and FO flows,and our Type ride would be done from the left seat. That was the end of that.
