Yes, on many individual levels, the "new" AA is as it has been positive, but on a senior leadership level we are in trouble. Sure, it can take weeks for all necessary info to be compiled and evaluated, but leaving people in the lurch like that for months doesn't occur at properly run corporations. It just doesn't. The culture hasn't changed since the senior management changed, they've just doubled down on the past and this is simply yet another example of that.
I agree - no excuse for making people wait. It's not how I would do things if I were in charge of hiring. It's a shame it's like that. Unfortunately there isn't much we as line pilots can do about that. But if you take this place for what it is - a job where you come to work, fly then go home, it's not a bad place to be.
