I would consider a 1 leg commute to a regional with either good pay or good pay and a quick upgrade. It isn't all about the upgrade, but that CA pay can sure make this industry more palatable. And not to mention out of the DFW area he should have a plethora of options for commuting making it a lot easier than living in an outstation somewhere.
