No I very much doubt it.

First, they have a viable business. They have assets that are worth quite a bit nowadays - pilots; and they have the legal structure of several 121 operating certificates.

If anything, a purchase/merger by another regional would make sense. Similar to what happened in the AA/US merger. AA went "bankrupt" to shed liabilites and lost control of the company to US/Wall Street who threw money at it and gained control.

SkyWest doing the purchase would make a lot of sense; they'd wrap up a very large portion of the contracted lift flying with the purchase of Republic, while owning SkyWest, ASA, and XJT. It's unfortunate those pilot groups can't get on the same page; they'd have huge bargaining power and really be able to effect wages upward.
