They don't want to rock the boat because with that kind of longevity and years remaining to retirement, they are better off sticking it out here until the end and taking whatever they can get in the process.
Also I've been accused of having a bad attitude by some of these guys because I think we should get paid more and see things like min day pay and better work rules spelled out in our contract. I always get the same "you should just be happy to be here flying a large regional jet" type response. Now I could be wrong but I feel that most of these types will be voting yes.
Interesting. I haven't flown with any yes voter captains in Phoenix but I did find one in passing. Most have been adamant no voters ****ed they even saw the contract. Flew with a guy today who hadn't read it yet but had heard a few of the things we still don't have in it and was probably voting no accordingly. The one apparent yes voter was a former union guy and is a company guy.
I think the super senior company guys are far fewer than those who are still bitter about being the lowest paid regional guys in the lost decade and are trying to for once have a decent contract. This new one isn't much of a financial or QOL gain (and is worse in some ways). Most I've talked to see no reason to lock in at least 5 more years of this same substandard nonsense.
